There was something powerful about growing up and finally seeing women who looked like us take center stage. They taught us that our culture didn't need to be softened, our voices didn't need to be quieter, and our dreams didn't need to be smaller. Sometimes representation is the first permission a girl receives to imagine herself becoming more.
Story Behind the Page-
There are certain memories from growing up in the ’90s that I can still hear. Music coming from the radio. Family parties. Dancing in the living room. The unmistakable glamour of the women we watched on television and the excitement of finally seeing Latina beauty celebrated instead of treated like something that needed to be changed. For a young Latina, representation mattered. Seeing women who looked like us command a stage, embrace their culture, wear the red lip, speak with an accent, move between languages, and refuse to make themselves smaller showed us something important: There was room for us, too. "La Reina" is my love letter to that era and to the women who gave an entire generation permission to be visible. It's about confidence without apology. Culture without compromise. Femininity without weakness. And remembering that you never have to dim yourself simply to make someone else more comfortable with your light. Because sometimes being 'La Reina' isn't about wearing a crown. It's about finally realizing you never needed anyone else's permission to shine.

The Inspiration-
Inspired by my memories of growing up Latina in the 1990s, the music, beauty, fashion, family gatherings, cultural pride, and especially the women in entertainment who allowed young Latina girls to finally see pieces of ourselves reflected back at us.
