The Inspiration
There is something inherently magical about berries darkening on the branch.
Green becomes red.
Red becomes purple.
Purple deepens until the fruit looks almost black.
And hidden inside that darkness is sweetness.
Berry Familiar was inspired by ripe elderberries, that gorgeous deep aubergine color that seems to shift between berry, wine, violet, and black depending on the light.
The name came from the idea of the familiar: the magical companion, the creature at the witch's side, the presence that has become inseparable from the imagery and folklore surrounding witchcraft.
So I wanted this shade to feel like a tiny cosmetic familiar of its own:
Dark.
Sweet.
A little mischievous.
And always close at hand.
